4 June 2012 / Anže Jenko

 Hello,

Today, there was nothing special at the English lesson. The teacher mostly completed our grades and graded the students who hasn't been graded yet. Those people were Zala, Jaka, Jakob and some others students I don't remember. Other students were either listening to what teacher was grading, or they were just talking about random stuff, like where're they going for vacation. When the lesson almost started, the teacher said to me that I need to write one more blog post and two more comments to get a better grade. So, here I am, writing a blog post.

Hello!
Now I will write something about learning tips we know many learning tips I will describe just the most frequent and successful learning tips:

The visual learner
Do you need to see your teacher during lessons in order to fully understand the content of a lesson?
Do you prefer to sit at the front of the classroom to avoid visual obstructions (e.g. people's heads)?
Do you think in pictures and learn best from visual displays including: diagrams, illustrated text books, overhead transparencies, videos, flipcharts and hand-outs?
During a lecture or classroom discussion, do you prefer to take detailed notes to absorb the information?
!Learning Tip - you may benefit from taking part in traditional English lessons, but maybe private lessons would be better.

The auditory learner
Do you learn best through verbal lectures, discussions, talking things through and listening to what others have to say?
Do you interpret the underlying meanings of speech through listening to tone of voice, pitch, speed and other nuances?
Does written information have little meaning until you hear it?
!Learning Tip - you may benefit from listening to the radio or listening to text as you read it. You could try reading text aloud and using a tape recorder to play it back to yourself.

The Tactile/Kinesthetic learner
Do you learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around you?
Do you find it hard to sit still for long periods?
Do you become distracted easily?
!Learning Tip - you may benefit from taking an active part in role plays or drama activities.

Hello!
I saw that are almost all of the posts already commented (except the one from Mojca (there is no mistakes))   so I decided to write post except of the comment. I will write about pages where you can learn English ''free''. I saw many different pages and realized that some of  them are very boring. On other pages you can learn a lot about English on interesting and a fun way. But you have to work every day and work hard if you want to learn a lot of English. For our class I think the most suitable page is for improving English. On this page there are some strategies how to improve your English :  http://www.learnenglish.de/improvepage.htm
And here are few rules for improving English:

  • Join an English course - a virtual one or a real one (and attend regularly).
  • Do your homework.
  • Read a book or a comic every month.
  • Learn a new word every day.
  • Visit an English speaking forum every day.
  • Read a news article on the net every day.
  • Do 10 minutes listening practice every day.
  • Watch an English film at least once a month.
  • Follow a soap, comedy or radio or TV drama.

31 May / Vid Čarman

Today we had not-that-interesting lesson. The lesson started when the teacher came in the class and she said she's going to start grading the booklets. Firstly, she opened her notebook and showed us what grades we have from our comments on the blog, blog posts, homeworks and other stuff. Then she started grading. She graded only a few people: Jaka, Tomaž, Rok Mohorič and maybe also someone else, but I don't remember. Meanwhile, we had to finish our booklets if we haven't yet and do tasks from the coursebook.

24 May 2012 / Matic Herceg

Helo. On thursday, we had a very boring hour. At the start of the class the teacher said we have to complete our booklets, then she started grading people who haven't been graded yet. Those were: Anže, Zala, me and some other students I don't remember. At the end of the hour the teacher noticed that Tomaž sent her an email message with music to listen during the class, but unfortunately it was too late, so she said we'll listen to it the next hour.

Hi!
This lesson started as usual. Of course the teacher was a bit late but we liked that. At first, the teacher handed us out our booklets which we have been doing for 2 weeks now. We write 10 words from our English book (Unit 4 and Unit 5) in the booklets each lesson, and use them in a sentence. Today we wrote the last 10 words, completing the 70 needed. After we have finished them we decorated the library a bit and gave the booklets to the teacher, who will grade them on thursday. Then we were planning to play and listen to music, but we didn't since nobody sent it to the teacher's e-mail. That is pretty much it from this English class.

29 May 2012 / Tomaž Tomšič

Today we finished our booklets at the english class. Everyone should have 70 words by now, chosen at will from our English book - Unit 4 and Unit 5. Then we have used these words in sentences and written them in our notebooks as this helps us remember the words easier. We will later recieve a bonus grade of 25% from this booklet. This percentage consists of creativity (looks-10%), word selection (words we haven't known before-10%) and testing if we really understand these words-5%. Then we asked the teacher if there is anything missing in this bonus grade, which consists of homework, writing or commenting the blog, weekly writing on the blackboard and library. Each topic brings 25% and that way we can get a very good grade, which can rise our average and make our final grade better.

21.5.2012

Hello! Today's lesson was very fun. We started the lesson with talking about our closing trip. It was fun because some people have done a lot od medness on the trip. It was very good for us because we were talking in english, so we may have exercised our talking and vocabulary. After that we were doing our booklets. In our booklets we must write 70 different words. At the same time we must make sentence which contains one word from our booklet. When we will finish that, the teacher will ask us these words, so that's mean that we must teach all these words and memorize them. At the end of lesson we were listening music, which was sent by Luka. That's all, Have a nice evening!

10 May 2012, 5 BONUS POINTS... Booklets page 2

Today almost everybody was in class (only Kristina was absent) so everybody should at list have the front page of their booklet done. Some booklets are becoming very original - see the pictures below. I will try to take some better quality pictures next time.
On the third level we actually managed to listen to some music and we played the Hot Chair. It was quit fun, but some cheated and than others got a bit upset.

There are three spelling mistakes in my text. 5 points to the first student who sends me corrections by e-mail.

23 April 2012 / Lara Ivanuša

Hello!
Today's lesson was very interesting, fun and different than others. We were working in groups of three. There were six tasks.

  1. On first one we had to create three riddles about different kind of commercialization. (e.g. It doesn't have mount, but it still tells you everything.)
  2. In task 2 we had to cast lots six words and then draw them (e.g. dreams, message in the bottle, TV..)
  3. Task 3 was the hardest on. There we had to choose 10 new nouns from UNIT3 and described them (e.g. cartoon= a TV show for children)
  4. Task 4 was similar than one before, but it was easier. We had to choose 10 new adjectives from UNIT3 and describe them. (e.g. lazy= is someone who doesn't want to work)
  5. In task 5 we wrote down 3 examples for showing our expiration and then described them. (e.g. Go out! = point index finger towards the door)
  6. And the last one was surprise for us. Time for grading.
All this we wrote in big piece of paper. Then the bell rang and the class was over. I wish we will have more lesson like this.

HAVE A NICE DAY! :D

17. April 2012 / Ana Trobec

Hello!

Today we started the lesson with talking in pairs about some sticky situations that can happen in friendships. Then we were listening the text in our course book (page 125). There were three letters, published in British teenagers" magazines. Young readers of such magazines often write letters to them in which they ask for advice about their problems. In first one, Cathy wrote about her friend, who betrayed her and embarrassed in front of a lovely boy. in the second letter, Belinda described her problem with her boyfriend. Namely she had a feeling that he became a different person (terrible temper, jealous, shouting...). And in the third letter one girl was asking if there is a chance to get pregnant from French kissing. Than we listened the responds from advisers who try to explain the situations and give the best solutions and advice. In task 2. we had to define if the words/expressions are similar in meaning or opposite (e.g. fall in love ≠ fall out of love ; at the moment = now ;...). In task 2a. we had to write what problems are mentioned in letters. And for the end we worked in groups. Our job was to describe one problem. This hour was very interesting for me, because these days people have a lot of problems and here i realised how to solved them :P

Enjoy the rest of the day! :)

2.April 2012/Luka Ilinčič

This class was a bit different from our normal class. Today, we also had the 1st level too. First we began with painting some squares in our textbook. Than we had some group work. We were talking about friends, and what we expect from them, can we have more best friends, etc.

We had no special homework today, but we will check our last homework tomorrow.

Just to remind you; it was in text book on page 102/103 no. 9- we had to fill in the missing words and translate all 14 examples in our notebooks.

There was also some in our work book. It was from no.1 to no. 30 or from page 96 to page 115 (there is a part of task 30 on page 116)

27 March 2012 / Tia Ilievski Andrič

In today's english lesson, we had fun, like usually. We took a new topic and wrote some things about it in our notebooks. Ten or fifteen minutes before the end of the lesson, we played a game. Teacher 'lent' us small papers of different colors, but not to everybody. For example: pupils who had orange papers, were in the group together and pupils who had white papers were in group together. Each group had to pick a student from the group on their left, and describe her or him in a certain way - if s/he was an animal, s/he would be a parrot. We had to make at least five sentences like that, using the same student, but different beginnings of the sentence - if s/he was a subject, food, sport, color, etc... I was in group with Luka Ilinčič and the teacher.
